If You Could Choose Anything, What Would it Be?
Last week I asked Julian how he was doing, and he said “Great!’ I said, “What makes you great?” and he said, “Because I choose to be!” What a concept! Today I will be joyful, happy, in a good mood . . . however you want to say it.
Think about how much time you spend getting ready to go to work, or plan a vacation. Do you take nearly as much time to consciously choose joy? Simple, yes. Always easy? Depends. It is like starting to work out at the gym, flexing new muscles. You are starting to flex your ability to choose joy. It feels awkward at first, yet the more that you do it, the easier it will be. Now I am not saying that you can move from depression to joy just because you choose to. However, I am saying that you can always choose to feel a bit better that you did a minute ago.
Abraham talks about the “emotional guidance system” we all have and shows us how we can use our thoughts to consciously move us up the scale, noticing where we are putting our attention. Put your attention on where you want to be, not where you are. That is where we keep getting more of what we already have!
When you have some clarity around where you are going and consciously choose joy, you are on a special journey. This is when all of the lights are green and the parking spot right in front opens up for you. I love when my parking goddess is with me, which is always—ask my friends—they will tell you. Why? Because I expect it! What are you expecting? What are you choosing? Be conscious, be joyful, be fabulous. You are!

I am expecting the sweetest things these days, and being amazed at how easily they are arriving in my life! Something really special is going on – I think all my “guides” are with me, overseeing everything and making manifest what I am calling to myself. On one level, this is just my higher self in the form of my favorite images . . I imagine my grandmother, Kwan Yin, forest beings and other invisible energies all loving me and working on my behalf. It’s a fun game, one that flirts all the time with maybe being real! Who knows?
I love that saying by Ben Zander: “It’s All Invented.” If it’s all invented, anyway, I might as well invent something for myself that makes me happy, that thrills me, that engages my highest good. Why not? On some level, it’s all possible. I like allowing that to happen in my life and helping it along by staying open and in the flow . . . .this is what I am choosing today. You?
Vic,
I love Ben Zander! It is all made up and I am making up some really good stuff these days! I just read a wonderful e-book written by Chris and Janet Attwood. It is called from Sad to Glad and talks about our story. It was fun and light and is a good tool to support us all on this journey.
Speaking of journey’s, I am here in CA for a week or so and then off to Seattle to work with Chris and Janet Attwood. I will become a facilitator of The Passion Test. It is a wonderul tool to use to increase your Joy Factor. Look for more info on the pilot workshop in Atlanta very soon.
When I first read this message I got stuck trying to figure out what I was choosing. I consciously target joy but my unconscious seems to have other memories, beliefs, habits that sabotage my aim. So while I “expect” amazing and wonderful things in life, and I truly have amazing and wonderful things, some of that expectation doesn’t manifest the way I expect. I still fall prey to negativity and it takes awhile for me to realize that I’m being negative and change my viewpoint.
